Racing kicks off with the first 5

The racing season got underway this Wednesday with the first 5mile time trial of the year on the out and back course from Scoulton. Under warm, but breezy conditions, the strong field of sixteen riders set about pushing their limits over the relatively short but agonisingly tough distance.

Breckland’s Adam Cross narrowly edged out club mate Tom Carroll by a margin of only 4 seconds to take the win in 11.17. Local rider and regular face at CCB events, Pete Fuller came in 3rd with a time of 12.11, it was then a photo finish between Miles Ogden of RAF CC, Carl Mace of Tri Harder and Graham Dilks of Norwich ABC with times of 12.21, 12.24 and 12.25 respectively.

This coming Wednesday sees a second 5mile time trial before the lighter evenings allow for the more common 10mile distance, starting at 1845 from the Scoulton layby. New faces, of any ability are always welcome, the entry fee is £4 – please try to bring the correct change and your own pen to sign on.
