Skinsuits were swapped for winter warmers in this weeks Club 5 with a bitterly cold wind causing teeth to chatter and lungs to burn. Despite the harsh conditions, a strong field of 17 riders took to the start line, with Jordan Black of Loose Cannon Conditioning taking the top spot with a blistering time of 10.27, followed by Ben Benyon of Rotor Team close behind in 10.49 – a sure sign of intent from both riders ahead of next weekend’s Open 10 on the same stretch of road.
Joe Gyde of the UEA stretched his legs to finish in 3rd ahead of Breckland’s Tom Carroll and Adam Cross with times of 11.34, 11.43 and 11.54 respectively. Other strong rides came from Tri Harder’s Callum Steadman with 12.09, CCB’s Kevin Blakely in his first ever time trial 14.12 and Tri Harder’s Millie Ogden who bettered her previous time and finished over the magic 20mph average with 14.59.
Next week’s event sees the return of the more common 10 mile distance, starting at 1900 from Hingham Village Hall.
