The on form Ben Stancombe (TeamVeloVelocity) rounded out the season in style with an impressive win in this weekend’s CCB East District Championship averaging over 30mph despite the windy conditions to finish in a new course record of 59:57.
There were also record breaking rides from Wisbech Wheeler’s Becky Murley who broke the women’s course record with 1:09:08, and the trio of Andy Newham, Ian Pike and Dan Linstead from Lincoln Wheelers who together broke the Team Trike Record which has stood since 1981 by an impressive 9minutes.
A strong ride from Breckland’s Mark Fairhead saw him average over 25mph to finish in 1:11:49 bettering his previous best set back in 2012 by over 2minutes.
Elsewhere this weekend CCB’s Adam Cross paired up with former Breckland legend Carl Mace to compete in the Kings Lynn MTB 6 hour Shouldham Enduro. The tight and twisty course set for a classic Shouldham shootout between the top teams who traded places until the very last lap in the hot and dusty conditions. The Breckland pairing finished 12th overall, pulling back 6 places in the last 3 laps as Adam narrowly missed squeezing in a final lap before the chequered flag waved by a mere 30seconds.
