Racing roundup 22/07/18

The rising mercury brought out hot competition this weekend as the on form Matthew Senter of TeamVeloVelocity took a commanding win in the Anglia Velo B10/3B with a blistering time of 19:05.
Tom Carroll led the way for CCB with another impressive ride of 21:53, placing him in the top 20 in a field of 80 that boasted some of the region’s fastest riders. Adam Cross followed with 22:21, with Mark Fairhead setting a season’s best despite the hot and breezy conditions of 23:36.
Competing again on Sunday morning, Mark Fairhead set a time of 26:00 in the Diss & District 10, with Nick Paravanni finishing in a time of 27:27.
Also on Sunday, the country’s fastest riders headed to Newmarket for the hotly anticipated Shaftesbury E2/50, which was won in style by Marcin Bialoblocki of NOPINZ with a Competition Record time of 1:30:31. Super Vet Chris Nudds put in a strong performance to finish in a time of 1:59:12, but unfortunately, bad luck continued for Dave Green who punctured after the half way mark.
Earlier in the week, more records fell in the CCB 15, with the first 4 riders all averaging over 30mph. Matthew Smith of Drag2Zero took the win with a new Competition Record of 28:27, taking the top step from what would have otherwise been a clean sweep for TeamVeloVelocity who broke the Team Comp Record. CCB’s Adam Cross set a PB of 32:49, with Chris Nudds following in 34:03 and Mark Fairhead rounding off the trio in 37:28.
