Breckland riders spread themselves.
At the weekend Cycling Club Breckland time trialists travel as far as Sudbourne in deepest Suffolk, Six mile Bottom, near Newmarket and Wisbech.
On Saturday riding only his second event of the season veteran Mark Fairhead was the sole Representative at the Plomesgate C C 10 mile event on the sporting B10/9 course at Sudbourne, Mark finished in a time of 26 minutes to finish 24th out of the 40 starters the conditions were described as tough with strong head winds to the turn at Bentwaters. The event was won by on form Mark Arnold of C C DesiraGear in 21.50, local rider Richard Reade of Norwich ABC finished one place behind Mark in 26.11.
Over near Newmarket, 16 year old Junior rider Declan Davis produced a fine ride of 23.39 on another sporting course – the Event the ECCA 10 had been moved from the intended E2/10 course to the E33/10e due to roadworks – again it was windy conditions that hampered super quick times – although Declan reported that he had hit 40mph at one point, his ride gave him 5th place overall, the event was won by Ben Wimpory of PMR@Toachim House in 22.05 Also riding for C C Breckland was 18 year old Harvey Hall who posted a time of 25.45.
Sunday saw Brecklands Super veteran Chris Nudds travel out to Cambridgeshire to complete in the Wisbech Wheelers 10 mile event on the B10/2 course, a flat but open course – which is always difficult if the wind are strong – Chris posted a time of 24.01 and finished 16th overall and 3rd fastest veteran on standard. Local rider Danny Watkins (Anglia Velo) opted to ride both 2 up team time trial and solo events – in the 2 up he paired up with team mate Peter James to finish 3rd in 25.24 and then rode later in the solo event to the exact same time to finish 22nd. The solo event was won by Jon Surtees of Team Swift in 22.01 just 10 seconds ahead of Team Velovelocity rider Daniel Bloy.
