Only 3 riders from Cycling Club Breckland raced this weekend, Paul Sexton and Chris Nudds took part in the Stowmarket and district 20 mile time trial on Saturday riding around the BS33 hilly course near Debenham in Suffolk, Paul rode well to finish just outside the top 20 with a time of 49.06 and Chris a few places back in a time of 49.54. The race was won by C C Desiragear’s Mark Arnold in 42.54 just 6 seconds ahead of Rock Estates Joe Skipper (43.00) finishing third was Cambridge C C rider David McGaw in 43.19.
On Sunday the Tricycle Association (EAST) promote a 25 mile time trial on the B25/17 this event run in conjunction with the Diss and District’s Medium gear, pre 1980 cycles and 2 up Competitions – Breckland had on representation. However C C Brecklands Martin Badham dusted off his Tricycle’s racing wheel and took part in the Tricycle race, being a bit race rusty Martin battle along the rolling out and back course to finish in a time of 1.48.07 well behind Lincoln Wheelers winner Andy Newham who covered the course in 1.07.30.
Further afield in Ugley Essex, for the second weekend in a row, Breckland’s Don Saunders, Harvey Hall and Mark Fairhead took part in an Audax, organized by Shaftesbury C C, the route was two circuits, a 125km loop headed west to St. Neots and a 47km loop heading east. The trio rode well over the rolling country side, with approx. 1400m of Ascending, the sunshine was most welcoming with temperatures rising to 16 degrees, although a stiff breeze made some sections quite challenging the trio rode well to finishing the 107 miles in just over 7 hours.
